The Opening of Waterloo Bridge (1945)

Herbert Morrison opens the new bridge in 1945.
According to this report the bridge survived 20 separate air raid incidents durng its wartime construction.
In a bizarre moment at the end Morrison makes a plea for the bridge to stay looking fresh:
'Keep it white. Its whiteness is one of its glories.'
