ReplyDeleteStill prefer the dub version of guns of brixton though.
ReplyDeleteSecond comment reveals that H stands for Hawke!
ReplyDeleteBlaggers ITA version of Guns of Brixton worth a mention maybe. Also didn't David Bowie have an early song about doing acid in Brockwell park?
ReplyDeleteYou missed a few spots, comrades. The Damned are largely from Croydon (the Museum of Croydon has one of Captain Sensible's berets - the only exhibit worth visiting). Japan are from Lewisham I think (the most surprising, they seem a tad, y'know, weak-limbed to be transpontine). Billy Idol is from Bromley, and recorded the criminally underrated 1993 concept album 'Cyberpunk'. And Kate Bush has SE connections, though is really from Kent (but I'm willing to stretch the realms of South London lebensraum to accomodate her. I love you, Kate...).
ReplyDeleteThis 2006 article reckons to bust the myth about Danny Baker killing Bob Marley:
